Welcome Home, Suzy!

Friday, July 27, 2007

Hi, all:

Good news on the Suzy front: she's leaving the hospital today (Friday). She's getting around really well, but she'll be taking it easy for a while to let everything meld a little more.

More Suzy

Monday, July 23, 2007

I saw Suzy tonight, in the Rehab ward of St Mary's in Reno. She's up and about, wearing street clothes, has no problem walking around, and she's in good spirits. She's being kept a while longer as she still recuperates from the concussion.

Amazingly, they stuck her in a room that has an Alta Alpina sticker on the foot of the bed. :^ )

Update from Suzy's office

Good Morning Everyone,

Suzy continues to improve, however, she's been moved to the rehab section of St. Mary's and will probably be there a week or so. I talked to her yesterday and she wants everyone to know how much she appreciates all the lovely flowers and cards, and your thoughts and prayers.

I apologize if I've been remiss in acknowledging flowers delivered to the office, once we learned she was going to rehab they were taken up over the weekend.

Things are settling down and it's business as usual for us at the office.

Quick Suzy Update

Friday, July 20, 2007

Hi, all:

I talked to Suzy today, and they must have let up on the drugs, because it was like a spring was unleashed - she practically jumped through the phone at me. She's in very good spirits, and insisted that we're going riding next week. :^ )

Her bike has been found, and the guy who saw the crash has gotten a hold of Suzy's family, so we should know soon what happened.

Suzy is very touched by everyone's concern. On her behalf, thanks for all the support, love, and concern.

Jennie

19Jul07 Update on Suzy

Thursday, July 19, 2007

A note from Irene at Suzy's office:

Suzy is improving by leaps and bounds. We expect her to be released in a few days - needless to say, she's chomping at the bit to get out.

She's in St. Mary's in a regular room, but because she needs her rest, we're requesting limited visitation. Also, since we're not sure when she'll be coming home, please have flowers, cards, etc. sent to the office so that she'll be sure to get them.

We appreciate everyone's kind thoughts and concern.

Update: Suzy Stockdale's Crash

Wednesday, July 18, 2007

The response to the news about Suzy's crash has been overwhelming, so I apologize that I haven't been able to answer all the emails about her personally. Starting today, I will update "AACC News" when I have news of Suzy, so please check here occassionally for the latest.

Suzy crashed last Saturday while riding her bike home by herself from Turtle Rock Park, after having completed all 5 passes of the Death Ride. Details of the crash are sketchy; something went wrong as she was riding downhill on 88 into Carson Valley and she fell hard on her left side.

Suzy suffered a concussion, as well as a shattered elbow, broken ribs, and a punctured lung. She has undergone surgery on her elbow. She is still in ICU, because of the concussion, and she's heavily sedated.

Today (Wednesday, 18 July 2007) she got moved to a private room, and took a little walk down the hallway and back, so she is on the road to recovery.

As Suzy is adored by, apparently, THOUSANDS of people, and to respect her privacy, we're asking that visitors be limited until she's had more of a chance to recover. ICU will not take flowers, but cards can be sent or taken to her office at 1650 Lucerne, Minden, 89423 (near Subway Sandwiches), and will be delivered daily to Suzy. When she is moved to a regular hospital room, I'll let you know and flowers etc would be welcome. It better be a big room!

Thanks so much to everyone who has asked what they can do to help. Suzy's being well taken care of, so please just flow positive energy, prayers, and healing incantations her way.

If you're the person who saw her crash, or you know the whereabouts of her bike, please contact me, at president@AltaAlpina.org, or 775-782-4848.
