The response to the news about Suzy's crash has been overwhelming, so I apologize that I haven't been able to answer all the emails about her personally. Starting today, I will update "AACC News" when I have news of Suzy, so please check here occassionally for the latest.
Suzy crashed last Saturday while riding her bike home by herself from Turtle Rock Park, after having completed all 5 passes of the Death Ride. Details of the crash are sketchy; something went wrong as she was riding downhill on 88 into Carson Valley and she fell hard on her left side.
Suzy suffered a concussion, as well as a shattered elbow, broken ribs, and a punctured lung. She has undergone surgery on her elbow. She is still in ICU, because of the concussion, and she's heavily sedated.
Today (Wednesday, 18 July 2007) she got moved to a private room, and took a little walk down the hallway and back, so she is on the road to recovery.
As Suzy is adored by, apparently, THOUSANDS of people, and to respect her privacy, we're asking that visitors be limited until she's had more of a chance to recover. ICU will not take flowers, but cards can be sent or taken to her office at 1650 Lucerne, Minden, 89423 (near Subway Sandwiches), and will be delivered daily to Suzy. When she is moved to a regular hospital room, I'll let you know and flowers etc would be welcome. It better be a big room!
Thanks so much to everyone who has asked what they can do to help. Suzy's being well taken care of, so please just flow positive energy, prayers, and healing incantations her way.
