My condolences to those who have been affected by the Tahoe fire. I hope everybody's safe and well. Kudos to you folks who are helping out at the emergency centers and offering your homes to the evacuees.
- Club News Update and Changes -
Magiko Bike Events:
My last email to the club had some wrong info. The EVENING events I listed for July 1st have been postponed to a later date. Note that the Tour of Carson Valley ride and ice cream social IS STILL ON. Sorry for any confusion.
Club Sweatshirts:
If you missed out on getting a club hooded sweatshirt this spring, we ordered more in all sizes, and they're now available at Big Daddy's in Gardnerville, still $20.
Board Meeting Location Change:
Next week's club board meeting, Monday, July 2nd, has been MOVED to the Pizza Factory in Gardnerville (had been slated for up at the Lake).
Cal Trans Meeting, June 18:
Note that the CalTrans meeting I mentioned in yesterday's club email has been posteponed indefinitely. I'll provide an update as soon as I hear. But here's the scoop, when it comes up again: CalTrans is looking for public comment on proposed improvements (mostly for water quality issues) to Hiway 50 in the Tahoe Basin. Part of the project is for bike lanes on part, but not all, of Hiway 50. Please show up in support of bike lanes all the way along Hiway 50 through town. A major point the bike community needs to make is that once this water quality work is completed, it will be decades before there is an opportunity to re-do the roadway and add bike lanes later. More info can be found at
http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist3/departments/envinternet/ed50-89/ed50&89.htm (coffee required, but most of the info you'll want to see is Section 1, page 2,3, and 6).
